Who was John VanBergen? The Highland Park Historical Society answers that question this month in their October celebration of this little known architect of the Prairie school. As it turns out, John VanBergen was a prolific architect in Ravinia and the surrounding Highland Park area, designing various smaller homes and schools such as Ravinia (addition) and Braeside. Open House to be Held for Ravinia Business District Streetscape Design

For years, the RNA has been working with the city to improve the Ravinia business district, establishing the Tax Increment Financing (TIF), securing marketing studies and planning for upgraded streetscapes and necessary infrastructure improvements. The city has now assembled the professional services of Hitchcock Design Group, Nicholas Associates and Strand Associates to create a streetscape design and branding study. Read More
A New Look for an Old House

The Highland Park Historical Preservation Commission selected the house at 501 Burton Avenue for its prestigious award, " best restoration" of an existing home in 2011. Many Ravinia neighbors had watched its transformation from drab to delightful. It presents now an inviting, picture-postcard loveliness. Read More
